I am a Republican who was born and raised in Petersburg, West Virginia.
I want our young people to have the choice and the opportunity to stay here, work here, and raise their families here, without having to leave.
I have been married to my wife, Karen, for almost 24 years. We have four children. A daughter, Brooke Elizabeth, who graduated from Potomac State College of WVU with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. I'm proud to say Brooke Elizabeth is a State Trooper with the West Virginia State Police. My oldest son, John Paul Hott III, completed a Windmill Technology degree through Eastern Community and Technical College, and he is currently pursuing a career in the windmill field. My daughter, Sarah Ann, is currently a student at Potomac State College of WVU, in the nursing program. My youngest, Raphael Heber, is a Junior at Petersburg High School. Raphael Heber is an asset to our family businesses.
I received my B.A. in Education from Fairmont State College in May 1993 and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Frostburg University in May 2004. Professionally, I have worked in the insurance industry since 1993. I began a scratch agency, Hott Insurance, in September of 2001. We now have four locations, Petersburg, Keyser, Franklin, and Versailles, KY. Along with the insurance business, I own Hott Disposal Services, Inc., which is a garbage disposal company, servicing the citizens of Grant County.
I've been an active member in my community. I am currently on the Grant County Bank Board of Trustees. I was the safety officer on the Board of Directors for the Grant County Little League. I founded and was the administrator of the Tri-County Youth Wrestling program. I had the privilege of being a Petersburg, WV City Councilman, being the Water Commissioner. Furthermore, I was on the Board of Directors for the Grant County Nursing Home.
